ABout me

A creative writer with an eye for the little-known stories seeped into landscapes. A passionate educator. A sensitive editor focused on your goals. A practice-led researcher and academic specialising in historical fiction that represents marginalised women, neurodiversity and queerness.

After obtaining a PhD and a Bachelor of Creative Industries (Creative Writing) (Honours Class 1) from Queensland University of Technology, I have worked as an academic at the Queensland University of Technology, James Cook University and the University of New England, where I am now a senior lecturer in writing. I was awarded with a Australian Award for University Teaching in 2025 for my innovative work teaching workshopping online.

You can read more about my university work at my University of New England staff profile. I am available to supervise Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy projects in creative writing. I am particularly interested in projects investigating historical fiction, queerness and neurodiversity.

I am available for one-on-one tutoring and writing coaching from high school to adults. Contact me to discuss futher: a.vanluyn@gmail.com
